Network Engineer

Ad hoc Research requires a LAN-WAN Network Engineer to work internally with the customer IT support team. The selected candidate will be responsible for sustainment, troubleshooting and maintenance support for state-of-the-art Local Area Network (LAN), and Wide Area Network (WAN) computer communications during Mission and exercise deployments. The goal is to ensure the smooth operation of LAN and WAN communication networks in order to provide maximum performance and availability for the end users.

Typical work activities may include but not limited to:

· Design, installation, maintenance and support current and new network and server hardware as well as all the software applications supporting the infrastructure

· Allocating network resources

· Setting up user accounts, permissions and passwords

· Monitoring network usage

· Performing network vulnerability scans

· STIGing the environment

· Applying IAVA and software/firmware patches and updates/upgrades

· Ensuring the most cost‐effective and efficient use of servers

· Suggesting and providing IT solutions to business and management problems

· Ensuring that all IT equipment complies with Army and 20th CBRNE standards

· Analyzing and resolving faults, whether it is a major system crash or a forgotten password

· Undertaking routine preventative measures and implementing, maintaining and monitoring network security, particularly if the network connects to the internet

· Providing training and technical support for users with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence

· Planning and implementing future IT developments and undertaking project work

· Configure line-of-site, wireless and WiFi equipment

· Configuration and maintenance of current and new modems, convergence routers, switches, IP accelerators and telephone and voice over IP (VOIP) hardware, call managers, tactical and commercial radio systems and interface equipment

· Perform and analyze network scans to identify and remediate issues, threats, and vulnerabilities

· Configure and integrate new services into the existing environment such as routers, switches, and circuits

· Apply expert knowledge of Cisco ISE to maintain and restore as necessary the supported environment

· Use understanding of physical and logical networks to plan and implement IT development projects

· Support large scale drills and exercises by maintaining network access, availability, and reliability even under higher than usual network traffic volume

Network Engineer Minimum Requirements:

· Five (5) years’ experience as a network engineer supporting an organization and environment of similar size and scope

· DoD-issued Secret Clearance required

· DoD 8570.01 M Baseline Certification, IAT II (CompTIA Security+ or equivalent)

· DoD 8570.01 M Computing Environment Certified; Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA)

Network Engineer Preferred Qualifications:

· Seven (7) years’ experience as a network engineer supporting an organization and environment of similar size and scope

· Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field
